How to Make Iced Mushroom Coffee: 3 Easy Recipes for Hot Mornings

If you live somewhere like Las Vegas, you know the feeling: it's 7 a.m., it's already warm outside, and a steaming mug is the last thing you want. But giving up your morning coffee ritual isn't an option either.

The fix is simple: make it iced. Here are three ways to make iced mushroom coffee at home, from a five-minute pour-over to an overnight cold brew to a 30-second instant version for busy mornings. Each one uses everyday kitchen gear and exact ratios, so it tastes right the first time.

First, what is mushroom coffee?

Mushroom coffee is regular coffee blended with functional mushrooms. Our Mushroom Coffee with Lion's Mane & Chaga is 90% Arabica coffee, 5% Lion's Mane and 5% Chaga. It brews like any ground coffee and tastes like a smooth, chocolatey medium roast. You'd likely never guess there were mushrooms in it.

Lion's Mane has long been valued in Japan, China and Korea and is known for supporting focus and mental clarity.* Chaga has been brewed as a tea in Northern Europe and Siberia for centuries.

The standard serving is 1 tablespoon (10 g) of grounds per 6–8 oz of water. For iced coffee, use the stronger end of that range (6 oz of water per tablespoon), because melting ice will dilute it.

Recipe 1: Flash-chilled iced mushroom coffee (5 minutes)

This is the fastest way to get iced coffee from ground beans. You brew hot coffee straight onto ice, so it cools instantly and keeps its flavor.

You'll need:

  • 2 tablespoons (20 g) Mushroom Coffee, ground
  • 12 oz hot water (just off the boil, about 200°F)
  • A big glass of ice
  • A pour-over cone, French press or drip machine

How to make it:

  1. Fill a large glass (16–20 oz) to the top with ice.
  2. Brew 2 tablespoons of grounds with 12 oz of hot water using your usual method.
  3. Pour the hot coffee straight over the ice and stir for 10 seconds.
  4. Add milk, oat milk or a little sweetener if you like.

Tip: If you use a drip machine, put the glass of ice right under the basket and let it drip onto the ice.

Recipe 2: Overnight mushroom cold brew (make it once, drink it for days)

Cold brew is smooth, mellow and lower in bitterness than hot-brewed coffee, and it's perfect for meal-preppers. Make one batch on Sunday night and you're set for four mornings.

You'll need:

  • 4 tablespoons (40 g) Mushroom Coffee, ground
  • 24 oz cold, filtered water
  • A large jar or pitcher with a lid
  • A fine-mesh strainer plus a paper filter or a clean cloth

How to make it:

  1. Add the grounds and the cold water to the jar and stir until all the grounds are wet.
  2. Cover and leave it in the fridge for 12–16 hours.
  3. Strain through the mesh strainer lined with a paper filter or cloth.
  4. Keep the cold brew covered in the fridge and drink it within 3–4 days.
  5. To serve, pour 6 oz over ice. Top with a splash of milk if you like.

That's 4 tablespoons for 24 oz of water, so each 6 oz pour is one standard serving.

Tip: Freeze a little cold brew in an ice-cube tray. Coffee ice cubes keep your next glass from getting watery.

Recipe 3: 30-second instant iced mushroom coffee

No brewing, no straining, no cleanup. This one is for mornings when you're out the door in five minutes.

Our Instant Mushroom Coffee is 70% freeze-dried Arabica, 15% Lion's Mane and 15% Chaga. One serving is 1 teaspoon.

How to make it:

  1. Stir 1 teaspoon of Instant Mushroom Coffee into 2 oz of warm water until it dissolves.
  2. Fill a glass with ice and add 4–6 oz of cold water or milk.
  3. Pour the coffee over the ice and stir.

Tip: Shake it in a lidded jar or shaker bottle for a frothy, café-style top.

Make it yours: easy flavor upgrades

  • Vanilla oat: Oat milk and a drop of vanilla extract.
  • Mocha: A teaspoon of cocoa powder and a little honey, stirred into the hot coffee before you pour it over ice.
  • Cinnamon: A pinch of cinnamon in the grounds before brewing.
  • Salted caramel: A spoonful of caramel sauce and a tiny pinch of sea salt.
